Anna Andreu i Gerard Díaz | artesans luthiers

Anna Andreu is a luthier trained at the Cremona school with maestro Massimo Negroni between 2001 and 2005.

At the end of 2005 she returned to Sant Cugat del Vallès (Catalonia) and opened his own workshop to dedicate to construction and repairing of modern and historical instruments. At the same time, she carries out continuous training stays in other workshops such as Liutarte (Naples, 2003), Luca Gallo (Cremona, 2004-2005 and 2013), Antoine Laulhère et Giovanna Chittò (Paris, 2008), Filippo Fasser (Brescia, 2010 ), and Francisco Pecchia (Barcelona, 2016-2017).

She has a degree in musicology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and is collaborating with the Museu de la Música de Barcelona since 2011. She is also the stringed instruments technician at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) since 2006 and teaches Organology in the Musicology Degreeof the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona since 2022.

She belongs to the Col·lectiu Música Antiga Sant Cugat, an organization of musicians, musicologists and luthiers that, among other activities, has been organizing the “CONTRATEMPS, músiques històriques, ara!” festival since 2019.

Gerard Díaz is a bowmaker trained in Cremona with maestri Julia Schanzenbach and Paolo Pamiro (2003-2005).

In 2005 he settled in Sant Cugat del Vallès (Catalonia) forming the Artesans Luthiers workshop with Anna Andreu. At the same time, he continues training with other craftsmen such as Dirk Loescher (Barcelona, 2005-2006), Pierre Grunberger (Paris, 2009) and Paul Sadka (Truro, UK, 2010 and 2012).

He is dedicated to repair and restore modern and historical bows in his workshop and collaborates with the Vidal i Roca workshop (Barcelona) since 2011. He also curates some private collections.

In addition, he is member of the Col.lectiu de Música Antiga Sant Cugat (Contratemps) since its foundation in 2018. He also maintains a constant activity as a creator of musical and poetic projects as LA COMPANYIA MINIMÍSÍMA and LEUCLUS, that materialize in form of disks, books and multidisciplinar performances. He is also studying Music as Interdisciplinary Art in the University of Barcelona.
